A senior Obama administration official says al Qaida No. 2 leader, Atiyah Abd al-Rahman, has been killed in Pakistan.
Al Rahman was a Libyan national who was considered al-Qaida’s operational leader before rising to the No. 2 spot following Osama bin Laden’s death in May.

A missile totally destroyed an administrative building of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi’s residence in Tripoli.
The building, about 50 metres from the tent where Gaddafi generally meets guests, was flattened. It was hit by a missile, Libyan spokesman Moussa Ibrahim told journalists, who were taken to the site by bus.

Explosion post leakage at nuke plant in Japan

Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano confirmed on Saturday there has been an explosion and radiation leakage at Tokyo Electric Power Co’s (TEPCO) Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.
“We are looking into the cause and the situation and we’ll make that public when we have further information,” Edano said. “At present, we think 10 km evacuation is appropriate.”

Pakistan minorities minister shot dead in Islamabad

Pakistani minister for minorities Shahbaz Bhatti, who had called for changes in the country’s controversial blasphemy law, was killed in a gun attack in Islamabad on Wednesday, officials said.
Police said the shooting took place near an Islamabad market. Bhatti was the only Christian in the Pakistani cabinet.
